The LISBI Framework: A Model of Our Philosophy and Vision
The progress and innovation needed to advance as a society and improve the quality of life for all at the collective level are facilitated by building the capabilities of people at the individual level. As individuals build knowledge and skills, master domains, and develop competence across domains, they gain the power to transform themselves and become more capable of making the contributions that drive innovation.
Innovation is emphasized because it involves developing and introducing something new or reimagined that has impact and value. Innovation is essential to economic growth, technological advancement, and scientific discovery, which all improve our quality of life. Smaller scale change can have a ripple effect upwards, such that individuals become the leaders of nations and entrepreneurs become the titans of industry. The nation is a collection of its communities, and the issues faced at the local level often reflect those of society.
An Illustration of the Framework
The LISBI Framework is illustrated in the figure above. It includes three major components of our mission, which is to contribute to social and business innovation at the collective level by:
(1) Advancing social initiatives
(2) Supporting entrepreneurship and small businesses
(3) Empowering people to develop their capabilities at the individual level
These three areas are interconnected and build upon one another. As shown in the figure, innovation is the connecting and driving force behind improving and advancing each of these areas as well. The arrows further show the relationship among these three areas. Examples are provided in the figure to show how each area can provide value and mutual benefit to the other. We believe that the collaboration and innovation of individuals working toward the common - and greater - good is the force that propels society forward. As individuals expand their knowledge and skills across domains, they become more capable of driving social and business innovation.
